We welcome pitches that bring a fresh, well-defined view of sporting design and culture. Proposals should focus on one subject, explain why it matters to a curious general reader and show what the piece will help that reader notice.

Topics that fit

We are interested in visual identities, sporting objects, places, clothing, rituals and other designed details around sport. A strong pitch has a precise angle and a clear distinction from subjects already covered; broad surveys and match reports are less likely to fit.

What to include

In a short proposal, state the working idea, the main question, the likely shape of the piece and the information or sources it will rely on. Flag any relevant access, image or permissions needs. Do not send a finished article unless requested.
